The new submarine energy cable with an uninterrupted length of 12,260 m and weighing about 180 tons,
on the section from Bogomolje on the island of Hvar to the town of Čaklje in the Municipality of Podgora,
was laid on Tuesday, 3 November 2020. The cable is a 35 kV three-wire wet version with EPR insulation,
integrated optical fibers and the first such cable laid exclusively by HEP's “forces”. This is the longest cable
ever that HEP ODS d.o.o. laid by the engagement of own resources, which gives this project a special
significance. The construction of this cable will significantly increase the reliability of the supply of the
eastern part of the island of Hvar and enable further economic and tourist development of that part of the
island.
